Highway corridor and quarry-belt packages mix crawler excavators for cubic meters with wheeled excavators for drainage hops. Choosing only one undercarriage type is the usual bid mistake.

Mass excavation packages

Prioritize 45–90 t crawler excavators, articulated haulers and track-type dozers. Digging depth, bucket capacity and breakout force dominate the production model; float cost is accepted because soft-floor flotation and face stability outweigh road speed.

Drainage & urban trench packages

Prioritize wheeled excavators with side-shift, skid-steers and compact rollers. Transfer kilometers without a lowboy and finished-pavement protection matter more than maximum digging depth. Soft berms still require mats — wheeled flotation is not a substitute for site prep.
